About Xapa
Xapa (pronounced “zapa”) is a career skills app that turns professional growth into a five-minute daily game. It helps young professionals build the skills that school skipped and work rarely teaches: communicating clearly, speaking up, giving and getting feedback, handling difficult conversations, managing up, saying no without losing trust, and leading with or without a title.
Most growth programs look good on paper but fail in practice.
They teach concepts but not behavior.
They inspire but do not equip.
They deliver content but not change.
So we built what we could not find.
A system that helps people practice the skills that actually determine performance: communication, trust, accountability, resilience, and leadership.
Our story
When Christine Heckart was 32, a simple question threw her off: What is your personal purpose? She was a strategy consultant helping global companies define their purpose, so coming up empty was humbling. She did the work and wrote it down: Help people envision and achieve more than they ever thought possible. That purpose has guided her through executive roles at Cisco, Microsoft and Juniper, through serving as CEO of Scalyr (acquired by SentinelOne), and through periods of struggle
Uday Keshavdas, Xapa’s co-founder and COO, received transformative executive coaching after being promoted to Director. “Why didn’t I get this years ago?” he asked. The answer was that coaching like that is expensive, hard to scale and usually reserved for executives. He set out to make it available to everyone.
Christine and Uday both spent years learning workplace lessons the hard way, through difficult bosses, tough conversations and unspoken rules. Along the way they reached the same conclusion: there is only one thing any of us can truly control, and that’s ourselves. Our own behavior, choices and mindset.
Over a long weekend with close friends, they asked one question: What if everyone could get executive-level development early in their careers? That weekend, Xapa was born. The name comes from the Greek word for joy (ΧΑΡΑ).
